I'm looking for a good animated graphic designer, for a Flash video.

Budget is up to $2k, though obviously less would be preferred Smiley

Basically I need some bouncing, jumping around graphics, of around 3 minutes duration. I'll be supplying the script, voice talent and music but need someone who can graphically tie it together.

Who do we know, apart from Mr S?

Darren does video:

that's the only one I know. You might ask on the WF and get a lot more answers.

Well since posting this have spoken to Darren, agreed the fee, got the client's approval, subject to an appetiser, which the client will pay for - and now Darren's gone silent on me.

 Huh

Happily, so far, the client has been patient. If I have to explain to them that the guy I've been hyping to the hills for the last week has vanished...

Hmmm, I hate to sound cliche but there is probably a good reason. I've done a lot of business with Darren and never had any issues like that.

Yeah, I know.

Fact is, it's putting me in prickly spot.

I'm not making anything from it, just my fee from the script. Darren named a price and I got the client to agree to the higher figure D mentioned, plus a bit extra for a sample.

If I haven't heard anything by Monday I'm gonna have to do a 180 on my client. Not good.

 Sad

I know a motion designer who is doing work for me. He mainly focuses on motion design INTROS though. He's $150 per second but is the best in the business. He takes about 3 weeks to finish an intro but nobody is better.

He's actually in Los Angelas right now working for the big studios but will do freelance. PM me if you need an intro. 2-3 minutes would break the 2K budget though.

Cheers Ricky, will give Darren till Monday evening, if still no sign may well need that intro.

I'm a little confused though, 3 mins is 180 seconds, at $150 a second that's $27k? Sure you don't mean $15 a second, ie $2,700?

Current budget is $2k but I'm sure it could be stretched, or the vid shortened - or they'll change their mind altogether about video. Me, I'm not enthusiastic about video anyway, not for B2B.

Especially with this kind of faffing about.  Undecided

Cheers Ricky but that's gonna be outside the budget.

Happily it seems Darren is on holiday, hence the lack of response.

Hey Alan,

I remember wanting to learn Flash years ago until I discovered Swish could do everything I wanted to do, output a nice flash video and I didn't need to spend weeks or months to learn how to use it.

Personally I think it's not much more difficult than learning to use PowerPoint and a newer version only costs about $100 http://www.swishzone.com/index.php?area=products&product=max_mini

Take a look and see what you think.

Hi Darren,

I'm afraid I've already cancelled it ol' bean, told the client he'll have to do the vid himself.

Andy did get in touch but then he went AWOL as well. I've had other bookings for conventional salesletters come in, three of em, in so had to cancel I'm afraid. I won't be around again till August or later now.

I'll email you the details of the guy to talk to. Hopefully you can rescue something?

don't have much to add in the way of video talk.  But this thread is a reminder for me to turn on autoresponder when I go on vacation.  And perhaps recommend a referral for anyone who is looking for service asap.

Well, I guess it tells the world he's talented and in demand... Wink

I didn't get that Sunday email either though, so deffo losing some marks here for being unresponsive or erratic.

Artists eh?

He's supposed to be doing one of my own websites too. If that happens, and soon, he's back in my good books.

If not, I give up altogether.
